The soil, as well as life, can be viewed from various angles. For some, the soil can be a production factor useful for gaining profit. For many it can be an interesting subject of research, while others link up the soil to a spiritual dimension. What is certain is that the soil and life are strongly connected and any distortion of their relation brings negative impacts. Everything comes from the soil and everything returns to the soil. The soil can be a metaphor of the whole natural system. All living creatures are dependent on soil and through the soil we are all related and mutually interlinked. Our relationship with the soil demonstrates more than we are prepared to admit our relation to our surroundings, as well as towards other people.
In 2016 the thematic discussion forums became an integral part of the International Scientific Conference “Agrarian Perspectives” organized by the Faculty of Economics and Management of the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. And it will be so again during the 26th Conference on “Competitiveness of European Agriculture and Food Sector” which will take place on 15 September 2017. At the round table we will discuss the topic of “soil and life” from the economic, environmental and philosophic points of view with the Conference participants who are also experts in their scientific disciplines
