I. Introductory Provisions
These rules set forth the conditions for the competition for the best publication or applied output created or co-created by students in master’s and doctoral programs at the Faculty of Economics and Management of the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague.
The aim of the competition is to support high-quality scientific, research, professional, and applied activities by FEM students, to motivate students to present their achievements, and to highlight the best student outputs within the framework of the faculty’s activities in the fields of science, research, and innovation.
The competition is open to students in master’s and doctoral programs at the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) enrolled in either full-time or part-time study.
The winning projects will be presented at a faculty workshop to be held on September 16, 2026, as part of the Agrarian Perspectives conference.
II. Conditions for Participation in the Competition
An entry must be submitted by the student who is its author or a co-author on the research team. The competition is open to individuals or teams of students. In the case of a team entry, one team member must submit the application as the contact person.
An entry may be submitted to the competition if it:
- was created, completed, published, accepted for publication, implemented, or put into use during the 2025/26 academic year.
- is a publication or applied project;
- is demonstrably linked to the student’s professional, scientific, research, innovative, or academic activities at the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM);
- is affiliated with the FEM, or relates to activities carried out at the FEM or in collaboration with the FEM;
- has an author, co-author, or member of the research team who, as of the date of application submission and the workshop (September 16, 2026), is a student in a FEM doctoral or master’s program in either full-time or combined study format;
For the purposes of this competition, a publication output is understood to mean, in particular:
- a scientific article in a scientific journal with an impact factor (Jimp),
- an article in a scientific or professional journal (Jsc, Jost),
- a paper in a conference proceedings or a chapter in a professional publication indexed in WoS/Scopus.
For the purposes of this competition, an applied output refers primarily to:
- software, including software developed as part of a thesis,
- an analytical or decision-making tool,
- a specialized map (Nmap),
- a certified, accredited, or approved methodology (NmetC, NmetA, NmetS),
- a certified or accredited methodology,
- data solutions—specialized public databases, digital data collections,
- prototype or working model,
- output of contract research,
- a solution implemented in business practice (faculty-industry collaboration),
- other output with demonstrable scientific, professional, or practical value and with the potential for inclusion in the RIV database.
An output cannot be entered into the competition if it:
- does not allow for verification of the student’s contribution or their role in the result;
- violates the ethical rules of research, publication, or academic activities.
- has already been awarded in another faculty competition focused on supporting students’ publications or applied outputs.
Each output may be submitted to the competition only once. In the event of an identical output submitted by multiple applicants, the Department of Science, Research, and Quality at the Faculty of Economics and Management will invite the applicants to consolidate their submissions.
A doctoral student who is the author or co-author of a work that wins an award in this competition may not enter the same work in the Dean’s Award for the Best Publications by FEM Doctoral Students for 2026.
III. Submission of Applications to the Competition
Applications are submitted electronically via a form available for download on the conference website at ap.czu.cz in the “Workshop” section. The competition is organized by the Department of Science, Research, and Quality at the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM).
The application must include:
- the student’s identification details and their study program;
- the title, type, and brief description of the submitted work;
- a brief description of the professional, scientific, or practical contribution of the work, including a reference to the FEM;
- proof of publication, acceptance for publication, completion, verification, implementation, or other verifiable creation of the work, e.g., a citation;
- a list of authors, co-authors, or members of the research team and a description of the submitting student’s contribution to the output;
Entries for the competition must be submitted by July 31, 2026, at the latest.
In order for a submitted entry to be included in the final evaluation, it must be presented at a faculty workshop on September 16, 2026. The format and scope of the presentation will be specified later.
IV. Competition Evaluation
The evaluation of submitted entries will be conducted by a committee appointed by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management. The committee will assess formal compliance with the conditions of participation, evaluate the academic quality of the submitted entries, and determine the final ranking.
The evaluation will take into account the following criteria in particular:
- the academic quality, originality, and methodological soundness of the work;
- the scientific, practical, or societal contribution of the work;
- the extent of the student’s independent contribution and demonstrable involvement in the work;
- potential for inclusion in the RIV database;
The committee compiles the final ranking. Minutes will be taken regarding the evaluation process and the final ranking.
The evaluation results will be published no later than September 10, 2026.
V. Awards
Outputs ranked 1st through 5th will be awarded. The author of the output will be presented with a diploma by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management at the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague on the day of the AP workshop.
In addition, the author or the authoring/research team is entitled to a financial reward in the amount of:
1st place CZK 80,000
2nd place CZK 70,000
3rd place CZK 60,000
4th place CZK 50,000
5th place CZK 40,000
The financial reward (in the form of a scholarship) is intended for FEM students who are authors, co-authors, or members of the research team behind the awarded project. In the case of a team project, the financial reward will be divided equally among the FEM students who are members of the authoring or research team, or according to a pre-agreed and documented share. The financial reward is further contingent upon the student’s presentation at the AP workshop.
VI. Final Provisions
In the event of an insufficient number of high-quality or formally eligible entries, the FEM administration reserves the right not to award any of the prizes. The committee may also recommend to the FEM dean that a prize not be awarded if the submitted entries do not meet the expected academic or practical standards of the competition
The Department of Science, Research, and Quality at the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM), in cooperation with the Vice Dean for Science and Research at FEM, is responsible for the organizational aspects of the competition.
